What is the American Royal Barbecue? |
|
Answer:
According to AmericanRoyalBarbecue.com, The American Royal Barbecue is a Kansas City Barbecue Society sanctioned event, and typically lasts for two days, with lots of deliciously barbecued foods and numerous other festive activities. The contest was started in 1980, and today it boasts up to 500 barbecue teams competing in four contests for prizes and awards. Attendance at the American Royal Barbecue is always solid, and the atmosphere must literally "sizzle", what with the tasty sampling of the barbecued varieties. The Health Dept. restricts 'carte blanche' tasting, so only those teams on Rib Row which participate in a Taste of the Royal are allowed to provide samples for tasting by the general public. Then there's the live music, the games, parties, and even fireworks to light up the night! Ticket prices for attending the American Royal Barbecue are typically very reasonable, around $9 in advance and $10 at the gate. Taste Tokens may also be purchased at the gate, which allow entrants to sample the approved barbecued foods. The event is considered the season finale of the competitive barbecue circuit, so a whole lot of celebration takes place! All in all, the American Royal Barbecue is an event to remember; one to enjoy savory foods, festive fun, and a couple days of true R&R (is that "Ribs & Royalty"?!). Mmmmmmmm.....!
