What temperature should I grill steaks at?

Answer:
The temperature to grill steaks will depend
on their thickness. Set your open palm above the cooking surface, and if you can hold it for 3 seconds and not more, it is good to start a ½ inch steak, at 425°-450°F.

If you can hold it for exactly 4 seconds, it is ideal for ¾ inch steak at 360°- 400°F, and for the 1¼ inch slabs you should be able to hold it for 5 seconds, at 325°-350°F.

After 3 minutes per side at initial temperature, you lower to 140° for the rare steak, and170° for the well-done, and adjust accordingly for all the levels of doneness in between.
