What is a Red Beer? |
|
Answer:
Often mistaken for its distant cousin, Bloody Mary, I usually prefer a mixed drink to beer, but if the beer is very cold and mixed with tomato juice, I can usually drink a couple in the course of an evening. What I really like is the Red Beer recipe with extra ingredients for extra kick. That recipe is a money-saver because it suggests using 12-ounce bottles or cans of less expensive beer, preferably light beer or lager. The beer is poured into a highball glass, frosty mug, or cold pint glass at a 45- degree angle to avoid heavy foam and 1 cup of tomato juice, vegetable juice, Clamato, or Bloody Mary or Caesar mixer is added. Giving zing to the drink is the splash of Tabasco, followed by pepper and salt. To liven it even more, add a dash of cayenne pepper, and maybe a pinch of celery salt. Top off the Red Beer with a garnish of celery stalk, and you have a new take on an old favorite.
