What is a Bay Breeze? |

Answer:
A Bay Breeze is a refreshing fruit-flavored Some Bay Breeze recipes call for a full shot (1 to 1 1/2 ounces) of a quality vodka to be poured over ice in a lowball glass. The bartender should then pour orange juice to the top of the glass, followed by a splash of cranberry juice for color. A wedge of lemon or lime can be used as a garnish. There are other recipes which call for a more even split between orange juice and cranberry juice, along the lines of 3 parts vodka, 1 part orange juice and one part cranberry juice. This may be a bit stronger than the standard recipe, but it can also be served in a taller glass filled with ice. There is a variation called a Malibu Bay Breeze which substitutes coconut rum for the traditional vodka. The coconut rum is first poured over ice in a lowball glass, followed by orange juice and cranberry juice in equal parts. Coconut-flavored rum may be sold under the Malibu label, or a suitable off-brand may be substituted. A third variation on the Bay Breeze is called a Tequila Bay Breeze, but it contains at least three different alcohols, including Blue Curacao and Tequila Rose. Like a traditional vodka Bay Breeze, it is finished off with cranberry and orange juice, but it needs to be served in a much taller glass with ice to accommodate all of the additional liquors. A vodka-based Bay Breeze is a good party drink, since it contains tropical fruit flavors and an interesting color scheme similar to a Tequila Sunrise or a Daquiri. It does not require extensive blending or mixing, which makes it an easy drink for amateur bartenders to produce efficiently during a busy party.
