What is the Most Expensive Drink? |
|
Answer:
According to msnbc.msn.com, The Side Car recipe consists of cognac, Cointreau (liqueur), and a bit of fresh-squeezed lemon juice, shaken and served in a martini glass. Not so lavish, you say? The cost comes from the Ritz's stash of cognac known as the 1830 Ritz Reserve. The vintage cognacs predate the 1860's demise of much of France's finest grapevine bounty, due to an American-introduced insect. Not too many bottles of cognac remain in the Ritz Reserve, and because the cognacs are "a taste of history", a "taste" costs over $515. There are other expensive drinks which some of the very wealthy dabble in, such as the Diamond Cocktail served at England's London Sheraton Park Tower Hotel's "Piano Bar". The Diamond Cocktail consists of 2001 Charles Heidsieck champagne, Remy Martin Lewis XIII cognac, three drops of angostura bitters, and is poured over a sugar cube and your choice of diamonds or rubies! Choose a 0.6 carat diamond and get the drink for only $4350. Then there is the Sapphire Martini, served at the "Mezz" lounge at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut, USA. For $3000, one can get a Sapphire Martini, which consists of Bombay Sapphire gin (or premium vodka), blue caracao, and a bit of dry vermouth. The glass is blue sugar rimmed, and comes with a sterling silver pick with a pair of platinum-mounted, diamond/sapphire earrings. I guess one could make a drink to be just about as expensive as one might desire, depending upon what expensive gems or trinkets are included in the drink. But hey...those really can't count as viable contenders for the most expensive drink; after all, you really shouldn't drink gems and trinkets anyway! Please drink responsibly!
