Coffee

What is Coffee?

Answer:
Coffee is one of the world’s great hot drinks.  This dark brown, almost opaque liquid is made from brewing the crushed seeds (coffee berries) of a coffee plant.  Coffee plants are large bushy plants, and the coffee beans grow along the stem of the plant as the result of fertilized flowers.

What is egg coffee?

Answer:
Egg coffee is a tradition among Scandinavian-Lutheran congregations in the Midwestern United States.  This unique way of brewing coffee was brought back from certain Scandinavian countries, but can also be found in parts of Eastern Europe and in various parts of the United States outside of the Midwest.  It is a way of making coffee less acidic, and has typically been associated with Lutheran congregations, which are often primarily of Scandinavian descent.

What is the Difference between Brewed Coffee and Drip Coffee?

Answer:
The difference between brewed coffee and drip coffee is the difference between "sports" and "baseball". Virtually all hot coffee is brewed in some form or fashion, but drip coffee is brewed using a specific method, i.e. a drip coffeemaker with a filter and hot water.

What is a Tea Infuser?

Answer:
Many gourmet and herbal tea blends are sold in loose leaf form, not pre-packaged in paper tea bags. To brew these loose leaf teas, tea enthusiasts pack the leaves into a special device known as a tea balller, tea egg or tea infuser. The tea infuser's open mesh design allows the leaves to expand and release their essences into the hot water, thus creating a perfect cup of hot tea.

What are Black Teas?

Answer:
Black teas would be the equivalent of dark roast coffee beans or stout beers made from dark roasted hops and barley. Black teas are allowed to ferment, actually oxidize or rust, longer than other "colors" of tea such as green or white. Black teas look more crimson than black in the cup, but the leaves themselves are dark in color.
