What is Heavy Roast Coffee?

to associate with a good cup of coffee; the aroma is usually brought out by roasting. The darkest roast of coffee, where the beans are roasted to the very darkest shiny brown, is called heavy roast.

Heavy roast coffee has a smoky, bitter-sweet flavor and is typically used to make espressos. With good quality beans, heavy roasting brings out a refreshing dark color and aroma. But one needs to be careful, because sometimes heavy roasting is also used to replace the original flavor of poor quality or moldy beans.
