Where do I find recipes without MSG?

Answer:
MSG, or monosodium glutamate, is a
flavor enhancer added to many foods.  If you avoid processed foods, it’s much easier to avoid MSG.

Also, be aware that MSG has other names (such as gelatin, hydrolyzed vegetable protein or HVP, brown rice syrup, and autolyzed yeast extract – to name a few).  The biggest challenge to cooking without MSG is that many soups, bouillon cubes, and gelatins contain some form of MSG.  If you want actual recipes that take all this into account and will help you avoid MSG, you can begin with gluten-free cookbooks, as gluten is often found in MSG (though some with gluten sensitivities can get away with small amounts of MSG).

Recently, a new cookbook was released which is specific to MSG struggles.  You can find information about that cookbook here:  www.nomsgforme.com.  One of the main components of cooking without MSG is being aware of your own body.  As this substance hides is many places and under many names, you may have to cook through trial and error, keeping track of which recipes work for you and which don’t.
