What is Pomegranate?

Answer:
Pomegranate is a fruit-bearing tree or shrub growing between 15 and 25 feet tall.

Pomegranate trees are native to southwest Asia
and have been cultivated since ancient times.  They are known for their fruits that provide medicinal properties, most notably their antioxidant properties.  They are known to reduce heart disease as well as lowering systolic blood pressure.

Pomegranates are cultivated by cutting them open and separating the seeds from the pulp, with the seeds being similar to grapes.  The seeds are consumed or processed into a juice.  The antioxidant properties of pomegranate seeds have not been scientifically tested in humans, but the nutritional benefits of the seeds are known to provide some medical benefits.
