What is Pinot Grigio?

Answer:

Pinot Grigio

is another name for Pinot Gris, which is described as the grape that cannot decide what it is.  The skin color may vary from dark, nearly black, to light, almost white.  Likewise, the wine produced with these unpredictable grapes is just as unpredictable as the grapes themselves.

Some wines made from Pinot Grigio grapes come out with full flavor, while others are considered much lighter.  In most cases, however, an aroma of honey makes it through the otherwise myriad tones.

Pinot Grigio grapes are grown in various parts of the world including California, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, and parts of Europe.

Pinot Grigio wine holds the title as Italy’s most popular white wine, and is appreciated for its flavors and aromas of pears, citrus and tropical fruits as well as the ever present hints of honey, so typical to the Pinot Grigio bouquets.

Pinot Grigio wines are also highly popular in the United States, and may soon become the most popular there as well, surpassing White Zinfandels.
